NAIDOC Week 2024: Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud

7 July - 14 July

Celebrate NAIDOC Week and honour the resilience and diversity of First Nations communities across our region and beyond. This year’s theme, 'Keep the Fire Burning! Blak, Loud and Proud,' underscores the enduring spirit of First Nations cultures and their unapologetic celebration of identity.

NAIDOC Week is a time to recognise and celebrate the significant contributions, history, culture and achievements of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This theme is a powerful reminder of the importance of reclaiming narratives, amplifying voices, and maintaining an unwavering commitment to justice and equality. It invites all Australians to listen, learn, and engage in meaningful dialogue, fostering a society where the wisdom and contributions of Indigenous peoples are fully valued and respected.

You can learn more about the NAIDOC week theme on their website.

Here on the Sunshine Coast, a variety of events will bring communities together to celebrate and learn. We encourage everyone to join in and support these events, redistribute wealth, and help to keep the fire of cultural celebration burning bright.
