Opportunities to grow your practice extend nationally, from Sydneyβs Art & About call for submissions seeking visually engaging, high impact indoor or outdoor works to Hobartβs Salamancaβs Artistsβ Cottage Residency, open to artists of all disciplines. Further afield, Way Beyond is an exciting international residency at Arteles Creative Centre in Finland, exploring the edges of mind, matter and meaning.
Close to home, the The Keeper Project continues across Caloundra. Keeper #7 Rebecca Boucher-Burns invites you to celebrate yourself at The Birthday Effect until 16 November. Then join Keeper #8 RenΓ©e Mead at Caloundra Yarns to share stories and explore meaningful places on Kabi Kabi Country until 8 December.

Departure Lounge: A Farewell to Sub Tropic
12 November
With a heavy heart, Sub Tropic Studio in Caloundra will close its doors soon and you are invited to join SCCA in a last hurrah farewell to this beloved space.
Launched in 2019, Sub Tropic Studio has hosted artists-in-residence, workshops, events, silent discos and been a creative co-working space and SCCAβs HQ.
Gather with the creative community, meet previous artists-in-residence and hear reflections from the founding advocates, former SCCA President Phil Smith and Sunshine Coast Council Sector Development Lead, Megan Rowland.
Enjoy live music by the Band of Legends and a new project preview by Kerbside Collective.
Letβs get together to raise a glass (or two) to the studio in the bus station one last time. Limited availability, reserve your place below.
Queensland Theatre Company Opens Applications for DOOR 3
Applications 28 November
Queensland Theatre Company invites independent theatre makers to take the stage for DOOR 3 2026, a program offering six weeks of space, mentorship and resources to develop or stage bold new work in the Diane Cilento Studio.
Collectives receive 100% of box office takings plus a $5,000 cash investment to support creative development or production costs. With access to dramaturgy, stage management, technical support and an accessibility allowance, DOOR 3 is your opportunity to create something daring with full professional backing. Whether you are an emerging artist or seasoned veteran, producers, writers and directors are encouraged to apply.
New Artist Residency Now Open! MadeSC Residencies 2026

Expressions of Interest are now open for Sunshine Coast Councilβs new MadeSC Residency Program 2026. Artists across disciplines are invited to immerse in practice and place at The Falls Farm, LJ Projects or LANTANA Space.
Each three-week residency in March 2026 includes up to $5,000 in artist support, studio space to create, mentoring and a work-in-progress showing.
From environmental inquiry at The Falls Farm to performance practice at LJ Projects or experimentation at LANTANA Space, the MadeSC Residency offers time, space and connection to grow your practice.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
Pathfinders Independent Producer Intensive offers ten early-career Queensland producers a week-long immersive program in Brisbane with training, mentoring and networking to build sustainable touring careers.

Local Contemporary Art Prize showcases outstanding contemporary works by emerging, mid-career and established visual artists from the Sunshine Coast, celebrating the regionβs creative talent in this annual exhibition.
