How can we support the creative value of and withinour changing communities and convert this activity into dynamic economical and cultural uplift?
Creative Director Marcus Westbury is the founder of Renew Newcastle and Renew Australia. His background is as a broadcaster, writer, media maker and festivaldirector who is responsible for some of Australia's more innovative, unconventional and successful cultural projects and events. Marcus will talk aboutgrowing creative value of communities and his low-budget, not for profit DIY urban renewal scheme that has brokered access to more than 30 empty buildingsfor more than 100 creative enterprises, artists and cultural projects in his hometown of Newcastle, NSW.As State Manager (Qld) of Creative Partnerships Australia, Simona Sharry is committed to helping artists and arts organisations unlock their developmentand fundraising potential and gain a better understanding of what drives support from corporates, institutions and philanthropists. Simona will outlinethe models CPA offer to help organisations and artists position themselves within the flow of investment using examples of recent successes.Louise King (Eudlo local) is an exciting example of an independent contemporary classical musician. A refined English cellist with extensive internationalexperience and training, she is an inspiring concert artist, teacher, recording artist, adjudicator and event producer. As Artistic Director of CelloDreaming she runs a busy private teaching studio, and amongst many other collaborative projects she produces and presents the dreaming BIG concertseries.Nicole van Bruggen (Peregian local) is a highly respected historical clarinettist, and basset horn, basset clarinet and chalumeau player. She is a specialistin repertoire from the Baroque to the Romantic Periods. Nicole is passionate about chamber music from the 18th and 19th centuries and is clarinettistin Orchestra Seventeen88, Osmosis, Trio Van Hengel and Quartet Andr. She performs with orchestras and chamber music ensembles in both Europe and Australia.
