Epic Diem Expo - Family Fun and Pop Culture Brought Together!
Epic Diem Expo, the Sunshine Coast's first and only pop culture event, is bursting at the seams with so many fun and family friendly activities their -epic day - has now become an epic weekend. Starting in 2013 with a strong focus on community and family, the expo sought opportunities to celebrate pop culture while embracing the active Sunshine Coast lifestyle. My family is really active. We love playing heaps of sports, going to the beach, biking, working out , but we are also just a big bunch of geeks. DeAnna Adams, one of the event organisers, explains further, My husband and I play video games, go LARPing, play trading card games, board games, everything! My favourite thing of all, though, is the activities we do with our kids that encompass both aspects of our lifestyle. This is what we are doing with Epic Diem.Epic Diem features a number of unique exhibitors and activities. For the more athletic, the event hosts activities like archery tag, laser tag, bubble soccer and various live action role playing events. Gamers will have a number of demos to get their hands on and spectators will find plenty to observe including pro wrestling, a lip sync battle, and cosplay (costumed play) show. Artists and art enthusiasts will find a dedicated area featuring eight Queensland illustrative artists and can participate in one of two cosplay life - injectingdrawing classes. Those looking for an educational experience will find national and internationally recognisable celebrities and guests from a variety of popular media, including films, television shows, gaming and the internet, discussing their craft over the weekend in thought provoking panel discussions. Meanwhile film enthusiasts and attendees looking for a break from the more active events will also discover a number of anime titles screening over both days in the panel room.If there was an expo that felt like a festival, a festival that felt like a sporting event, and a sporting event that felt like a gaming lounge, you would have Epic Diem, says Daniel Rees of Caboolture. I have three children with very different personalities, so to find an event that keeps me, my wife and all of my children entertained for an entire day , well you wouldn't want to let that opportunity pass by.The Epic Diem expo runs the 21st and 22nd of November at the Sports Precinct of the University of the Sunshine Coast.
