Counter World

Sunshine Coast based dance company LissaJane Dance is pleased to announce its brand new Extensive Youth Dance Project Counter World��_��__��_.

This is the first time that a contemporary dance work of this nature has been facilitated on the Sunshine Coast.

This work brings together a cast of over 105 students from across 8 Sunshine Coast Schools and 6 emerging artists to dance in a full and complete work. Counter World will also feature excerpts from Vincent by professional dancer Michael Smith of LissaJane Dance. Choreographers Melissa Lanham and Kym Stevens have been in rehearsals with each school to develop this original work for the past 4 weeks along with full cast rehearsals.

Dance Artists Melissa Lanham and Kym Stevens both have had extensive careers in dance both here and worldwide. (please see website for further info.)

Counter World gives these students of varying abilities the opportunity to dance together in an original work in a non-competitive environment. Lanham said.

The final performance will be at Nambour Civic Centre on Saturday the 10th October at 7pm. A portion of the proceeds will go to beyondblue.

The schools involved are: Nambour State High, Caloundra State High, Maleny State High, Kingaroy State High, Performing Arts Factory, Studio 2, Sunshine Dance Centre, Anne Fraser School of Dance.

Emerging Artists are Courtney Sheu, Ellyn Gwillim, Mark Turner, Nicole Ibell, Maddy Quinn and Madison Lanham.
